The Themes
We welcome you to submit a creation that embodies your personal interpretation of the ’humanity challenged by climate change’ theme and to reimagine the impact creators can have on the world and on healing of our Mother Earth.

In terms of visual storytelling we are envisioning 3 sub-themes:

  • Storm: visual interpretations of the uncertainties and fears that people around the world are experiencing in a rapidly changing world - understanding the threat
  • Haven: people/communities joining hands towards mitigation of climate change and creating resilience capacity
  • Angel: the individual global citizen as the center of a value and cultural shift towards empathy, solidarity and building an individual climate action legacy (i.a. with the use of new-gen technology).

These are just a few ideas and should in no way limit the artist into how the theme can be represented.

DigitalArt4Climate Art Competition reflects the new time in which the next generation of creators stand to address the climate crisis, while benefiting from a technology, amplifying and monetizing their work. The DigitalArt4Climate COP26 exhibition will represent the first important steps of the young disruptive thinkers in the space full of possibilities which is the NFT world.
The Opportunity
With the DigitalArt4Climate Art Competition we aim to identify up to 25 artworks for our DigitalArt4Climate COP26 collection, which will be exclusively showcased at the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in Glasgow, UK on the 11th of November 2021.

The DigitalArt4Climate COP26 collection artwork will be minted as NFT and included in different forms of resource mobilization (sponsorship packages, auctions, partnerships with galleries, NFT marketplace) for climate action empowerment flagship initiatives of the DigitalArt4Climate organizers (COP26 ACE pavilion, World Environment Situation Room youth engagement programme, DigitalArt4Climate / Action for Climate Empowerment marketplace development).

The selected Artworks which enter the public voting of the Art Competition and the COP26 collection will automatically enter the auction (the details to be confirmed) and will receive a share of 15 % of the net revenues or gross proceeds from the auction (NFT sales) on the primary market. These 15% from the sale of NFTs must be claimed by the artists within 14 (fourteen) days from the time the notification of the results of the auction was sent. Artists must provide sufficient information and/or tax forms to receive the monetary award.

DigitalArt4Climate will promote the winning Artists’ names. Any remaining proceeds will benefit youth climate action projects as well as global technical and institutional Action for Climate Empowerment support infrastructure development, including World Environment Situation Room Youth engagement programme. Creative direction may be provided to the Artist for final release on the website and the DigitalArt4Climate public voting.

Artists whose artwork will be shortlisted for the Art Competition by the curators, but who do not make it into the initial DigitalArt4Climate COP26 collection, will nevertheless have the opportunity to have prime-access to the DigitalArt4Climate NFT marketplace platform during its first months live.

If I buy the artwork from the DigitalArt4Climate COP26 collection, do I acquire the full ownership and unrestricted rights to commercial use for the NFTs?
You obtain the ownership of the NFT Works, but any copyright, trademark right or any other intellectual property right of the NFT Works remains owned by the artists. For instance, providing the the NFT Works (such as its screenshots) to others beyond the scope of private use, or using them for commercial purposes (e.g., using them for merchandises such as bags, T-shirts, or smart phone cases, publishing them in books, or posting them on e-commerce sites or corporate websites) falls under the infringement of the said intellectual property rights and is not allowed.

Check more in "Terms and conditions" which will be provided with each Token once the auctions will start on the future DigitalArt4Climate NFT platform (aprox May 2022 - extended).
Why do you find important creating NFTs?
In DigitalArt4Climate we find NFTs to have a transformative potential to make significant, positive change for digital and traditional artists and our Mother Earth. We are excited to create a long-lasting authentic opportunity to showcase the work of artists from all sorts of backgrounds and ages.
